Why Our Meat

Our meat is raised as naturally as possible. We move them every day or two to mimic how animals roamed in the open prairie. They eat nothing but grass in our pastures. No hormones are ever given to our cows to make them grow faster.

Grass-fed beef is much leaner than its conventional counterpart. It’s also higher in key nutrients, including antioxidants, vitamins, and a beneficial fat called conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) that’s been tied to improved immunity and anti-inflammation benefits. Plus, grass-fed beef packs about 50% more omega-3 fatty acids than standard beef (although the amount is still far lower than the total omega-3s found in fatty fish like salmon). Grass-fed beef is also less likely to contain “superbugs”—bacteria that have become resistant to three or more classes of antibiotics—so it’s considered superior from a food safety perspective as well.

Less Fat and Calories

Grass-fed animals are have less total fat than their feedlot counterparts. Most studies show 1/3 less fat in grass-fed animals. Less fat means less calories and less cholesterol.

Heart Healthy Fat in Grass-Fed Beef

Essential fatty acids omega-6, omega-3 and CLA (conjugated linoleic acid) are very important in our diets but the must be in the right ratio. Feeding grain to cattle almost eliminates the omega-3 fat while increasing omega-6, all of which increases inflammation.

Grass-fed beef actually has 2 to 4 times more omega-3 and reduces omega-6 hence reducing inflammation in the body. Grass-fed beef also contains 3 to 5 times more CLA’s than those fed grain-fed diets. Besides cancer-fighting, CLA’s also help people loose weight as well as control diabetes and high blood pressure.
